Shaving Guide

Shaving is the removal of hair, by using razor or any other kind of bladed implement, to slice it down to the level of the skin. Shaving is most commonly practiced by men to remove their facial hair and by women to remove their leg, and underarm hair.

Shaving brush
A shave brush's handle, regardless of its material composition, rarely affects the overall performance of the brush.
Shave brush use, however, requires a circular motion to form a lather suitable for a shave. Therefore, a razor does not need to be pressed to the skin in order to provide a close shave.Using a quality badger shaving brush and soap is the key to keeping your face hot and moist. Not only will it soften your beard, it will help to lift the whiskers for a better shave
Shaving cream

To shave with the grain or against the grain. Also, what are some good shaving creams out there, is aveeno shaving cream products any good. Or is it better to just use a electric shaver, i don't have a lot of facial hair so i'm not concerned with a close shave.A traditional razor and good shaving balm like Nivea/Kiehls are best.. Shave just as you get out of the shower or while you've been in for a few minutes it softens the hair and makes the shave smoother..also try a pre shave balm it will also help to get a close shave with less irritation.Either get in the shower or wet your legs or desired shaving area.Squirt shaving cream to the palm of your hand, thus creating foam.put it all over the desired shave area.get a razor and start shaving.make sure you have gotten all areas, if not apply some more shaving cream!
Electric Shaving
The electric razor consists of a set of oscillating or rotating blades, which are held behind a perforated metal foil that prevents them coming into contact with the skin and behaves much like the second blade in a pair of scissors.
The main disadvantages of electric shaving are that it is not as close as wet shaving and you need a source of electricity. The advantages are fewer cuts in the skin, quicker shaving and no need for a water supply. There are special electric razors available for use by women, but these are essentially no different from those made for men

Warm Water Prep
Even if you choose to skip the pre-shave wash, be sure to use warm water to thoroughly wet your face before applying your shaving cream or gel. Massaging your face with warm water makes the skin more pliable and opens
the pores, plus it helps soften your whiskers. Soft, wet whiskers tend to be easier to shave. Think of when you get your hair cut-- it is much easier for your barber to cut your hair wet than dry.
Tips

The whole shave down thing. Forget about it and go up, down or sideways. Down first and then up again. Twist your face and go over a part at an angle if you have to. At various steps rinse all of it off and apply all new cream.
Three blades is just fine. Use shaving cream of course. Shave up on your neck. Down on the sides of your face.Shave sideways on your upper, lower lip area and chin. And shave sideways along your jaw lines. Add some sort of cream to your face after washing and drying it.
All of the advice provided in the "wet shaving" section applies to the straight razor section as well. However, there are a few techniques specific to straight razor shaving that are described ...
